Our Remodeling Process

Every kitchen and bathroom we remodel runs through the same ten steps, from the first phone call to the walk-through at the end. Knowing them in advance is the easiest way to keep a remodel on track: most delays come from a decision that was needed at one step and made at a later one.

Start with a free design

The ten steps

1. The first conversation. Call, email or come to the Norcross showroom and tell us about the room: what is staying, what is going, and roughly when you would like to start. Photographs of the room as it is now help more than anything else at this stage.
2. Measuring. Wall lengths corner to corner, ceiling height, windows and doors with their trim, the position of the drain, and every outlet and shut-off. You can send your own measurements, and the space is surveyed against them before anything is ordered.
3. The free 3D design. The room is laid out with real cabinet sizes and your door style, with the plumbing and electrical positions marked. It is changed until it works: doors that clear each other, counter beside the range, aisles wide enough to use.
4. Choosing the materials. Door style and finish from sample doors, the countertop material, the backsplash and tile, and for a bathroom the vanity and its top. All of it can be compared side by side at the showroom.
5. One quote. The approved design becomes one quote for the whole project, so what you agree to is exactly what is on the drawing.
6. Cabinets and materials. The cabinets come from our Norcross warehouse, and custom pieces are made to the approved design.
7. Demolition. The old cabinets, counters and fixtures come out and the room is prepared for the new layout.
8. Plumbing and electrical. Supply and drain lines, circuits and outlets are moved to where the design puts them, before any cabinet goes in.
9. Installation. Cabinets are assembled, set, levelled and fixed; the countertop is templated from the installed cabinets and then fitted; tile and backsplash follow.
10. Final connections and walk-through. Sink, faucets and appliances are connected, outlets and lights finished, doors and drawers adjusted, and the room is checked with you.

Decisions that are needed early

• The sink and faucet. The sink base is sized around them, and the countertop cannot be templated without the sink on site. Order it at the same time as the cabinets.
• Appliance models. A range, a refrigerator or a built-in microwave is sized to its manufacturer's specification, not to a standard, so the model numbers belong in the design.
• The floor. The finished floor usually goes down before the cabinets. If a new floor comes later, its exact thickness has to be known before the cabinets are ordered.
• Where the plumbing goes. Moving a sink along a wall is usually straightforward; moving it into an island, or moving a toilet, is a bigger job and is best settled on the 3D model.

If you only need the cabinets

The first four steps are the same, and the design is still free. After that the cabinets are collected the same day in Norcross or delivered in 7 to 10 business days across metro Atlanta, and assembly and installation can be added for a fee.

Yes. Door styles, finishes, countertops and vanities can be compared side by side at 6115 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Suite E, Norcross, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 17:00.
