Shaker Kitchen Cabinets in Atlanta

Shaker is the most-requested door style in Atlanta kitchens and it is the largest collection Rest Cabinetry carries - more than twenty finishes and over 6,500 cabinet sizes. The style itself is a five-piece door: four frame pieces around a flat recessed center panel, with no ornament at all. That restraint is why it sits just as comfortably in a 1960s ranch as in a new-build open plan, and why it has outlasted every trend that has come and gone around it.

How Shaker cabinets are built

Because the Shaker range draws on several suppliers, construction varies by finish and it is worth knowing which one you are looking at. Several finishes are framed cabinets with full-overlay doors, under-mount full-extension soft-close drawer glides, and dovetail drawers with 3/4 inch thick solid wood box sides. Others use a five-piece painted HDF door on a mortise-and-tenon frame with a 45-degree inside bevel, on concealed European-style soft-close hinges. The stained finishes use a solid birch frame with a veneered MDF flat recessed center panel. Across all of them the cabinet box is plywood - we do not use particleboard.

Choosing a Shaker finish

The range covers the full spread: crisp whites such as Origami White and Antique White; warm woods including Cotton Oak, Essence Oak, Honey and Natural Wood; grays from Ash Grey through Dove and Stone Wash to Dark Gray; and darker or colored options including Charcoal Black, Espresso, Vintage Charcoal, Jade Green and two distinct blues. There is also an unfinished Shaker if you plan to paint or stain on site - that one ships with a solid birch frame and a metal clip assembly.

What you can build with it

Shaker is the deepest part of our stock: more than 2,600 wall cabinet sizes and more than 1,300 base sizes, plus vanities, tall units, mouldings, fillers, panels and accessories. In practice that means an awkward wall, a tall pantry run and a matching bathroom vanity can all be solved inside one finish instead of by mixing collections.

Shaker as a ready-to-assemble order

Shaker is the deepest collection we hold, and RTA is what makes a deep collection practical. Because ready-to-assemble cabinets ship flat, a kitchen that mixes a painted perimeter with a contrasting island does not carry twice the freight of a single-finish run. Cartons stack, so a large order can be staged in a garage before the fitters arrive. Open only what you are about to build — anything still sealed and in its original condition stays returnable.

Every collection is made up of the same parts - wall cabinets, base cabinets, sink bases, drawer bases, corner units, glass door cabinets and pantry cabinets, closed off with moldings and fillers.
