CUSTOM CABINETRY · METRO ATLANTA

When Stock Sizes Will Not Do

Rest Cabinetry is first of all a stock house: nine ready-to-assemble collections held in the Norcross warehouse, in hundreds of sizes per finish. Most kitchens in metro Atlanta can be built out of that range and, when they can, that is the cheaper and faster way to do it. Custom cabinetry is for the rooms where the stock range runs out.

Where the stock range runs out

It is usually the room, not the taste, that forces it. A wall that is out of square. A ceiling height that leaves an awkward gap above the wall run. An appliance opening that falls between two standard widths. A chimney breast, a bay, a boxed-in soil pipe, a corner that will not take a standard carousel. An island longer than any stock run. A walk-in closet, which has no standard sizes at all. In those rooms a made-to-measure piece is not a luxury, it is what stops the kitchen being solved with filler panels.

Built the same way as everything else we sell

A custom piece is not a different product with a different specification. The boxes are plywood — we keep a strict no-particleboard policy across every line, stock or made to measure — with solid wood doors and frames, and they are engineered to carry the same granite and quartz tops as the stock ranges. That matters most on the pieces custom work usually involves: long islands and tall runs, where a weak box shows up as a sagging countertop years later.

Mixing custom with stock

The usual answer is not a fully bespoke kitchen. It is a stock collection for the bulk of the room, with two or three made-to-measure pieces finished to match. That keeps most of the kitchen at wholesale stock pricing and puts the custom money only where the room actually needs it. Start by looking at the nine collections and finding the door you want; the custom pieces are then built around that decision, not the other way round.

You see the kitchen before it is built

A quote from us is not a number on its own. Before anything is ordered we draw the proposed cabinets in 3D and send you the images with the estimate, so you can look at the actual run — the heights, where the tall units land, how the island sits against the rest of the room — and say what is wrong with it while changing it still costs nothing. Most of the changes people ask for at that stage are things no plan view would have shown them.

Send us the room: measurements, ceiling height, where the windows, doors and appliances land, and which door style you have settled on. The more of that we have, the closer the first number is to the last one. Ask for a sample door at the same time — judging a finish at home, under your own light, is worth more than any photograph. We quote across the seventy metro Atlanta cities we supply, from the warehouse at 6115 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Suite E in Norcross. Call (470) 564-9496 or send your measurements through.

The same cabinets in other rooms

A kitchen is not the only room these boxes build. Each page below covers what is different about that room - the heights, the clearances, and which parts are stock and which are custom:

Where a room takes standard sizes, stock is cheaper and faster - Atlanta cabinetry sets out which parts of a project are usually which.
